Estudo das unidades fraseológicas em textos jornalísticos de Eulálio Motta

Abstract

This dissertation has as main objective the construction of a glossary with the phraseological units present in the 120 prose texts by Eulálio Motta, published in the newspapers Mundo Novo (1931-1932), O Lidador (1933-1942), O Serrinhense (1950-1951) and Gazeta do Povo (1960-1961), with the help of the computational tool FLEx (Fieldwork Language Explorer) – latest stable version: 9.0.15. The specific objectives of the research consist of classifying the phraseological units found in the corpus, according to the Spanish taxonomy of Corpas Pastor (1996), which are Sphere I, Collocations; Sphere II, Locutions and Sphere III, Phraseological Utterances. The theoretical discussion and data analysis are based on Corpas Pastor (1996), Barbosa (2001), Biderman (1998), Barbosa (2001), Welker (2004), Orsi (2012), Barreiros (2017), Isquerdo; Abbade (2020), among others. The glossary as the final product of this research has 414 entries organized alphabetically and spelled as they appear in the corpus, following the contributions of Barreiros (2017), regarding structuring and presentation, and Pereira (2020). The large volume of phraseological units found, especially those that make up Sphere III, shows that the FUs are imbricated in the speech of the most diverse users of a natural language, portraying the culture and evidencing the most diversified ways that the speaker accesses the multiple linguistic constructions in order to carry out communication and understanding.
